Should you punch a Nazi?

A primer on why this is, was, and will only be the only proper response to Nazis and fascists alike.

What, exactly, is a Nazi?

A fascist, specifically, a white fascist.

What is fascism?

Palingenetic ultranationalism.

What?

• Palingenesis - The concept that the nation was good before, and will be reborn, by their work, to that former glory. There are religious overtones to it.
• Ultranationalism - 2 parts. Nationalism is that chest-pounding, righteous indignation, prideful, 'better than everyone' part. The 'ultra-' prefix heightens it to a point where those elements deemed 'unworthy' of that nation are either removed or eliminated (kicked out or killed).

In both parts, they are based upon lies.

Of special note: The American Indians are not included in this. They would be kicked out or killed, as well.

White?

Yes. Specifically, European Western whites (English, French, German, and similar). Please keep in mind, Jewish, Irish, Spanish, and in some cases Greek and Italian only very recently gained status as "white", and it fluctuates.

Remember; race is a human construct. Scientifically, we are all homo sapiens sapiens, and the amount of melanin in someone's skin tone are generally chalked up to variation within species. (There are, indeed, some fascinating deeper scientific aspects to this, but they are irrelevant to the discussion at hand - it is focused on skin coloration). It's real because some people make it real - again there are no differences to note on the topic at hand.

Why is fascism bad?

It relies on an 'other' to scapegoat for problems. Because the chosen in-group is 'right', it cannot have problems - it cannot be wrong. Its existence is ordained by God as 'chosen' (usually), therefore to be critical of someone, a policy, etc. within means to question the fascist ideal, and means questioning God. This is not allowed.
Because, again, it's ordained by God, this 'bad thing' cannot change. And the person doing the 'bad thing' is not going to change... because, again, it's ordained. Because people cannot change, the only way to remove a 'bad thing' is... to create an out-group.

Fascists deal with out-groups in 2 ways: removal or elimination (see above).

Therefore, the pyramidal structure of the fascist society becomes narrower and narrower over time. Eliminating and removing more and more people.

Literally; it's a death cult. By definition. Given a long enough timeline, fascism does, indeed, destroy itself.

But not before ending millions needlessly.

But punching though...

We know the answer the Nazi gives to a member of the out group is removal or elimination. Assuming global or universal control, that shrinks to only one option; elimination (when everywhere is the fascist state, there is nowhere left to remove someone to).

A black person cannot change the color of their skin, yet they are the target of the fascist. They will be eliminated based on a made-up reason.

Anyone that is LGBTQIA+ faces elimination. For harming no one. For daring to be happy and comfortable in their own skin.

Anyone who crosses a powerful member of the fascist party, even by accident, risks being eliminated. This includes holding views, personal or political, that are simply different enough from the ruling party.

The question isn't about if you are in an out group - given a long enough timeline, it's simply a question of when you will be.

The fascist, therefore, spouting fascist rhetoric, promoting fascist ideals, and bolstering fascist policy does not represent a political disagreement... It is a direct, overt, and forward attack upon the person - upon all people. If you're already in an out group - it's a literal rally cry for your death.

This quickly leaves the sphere of political discussion, and becomes an opening salvo to kill you. It is a threat against one's life.

Punching a Nazi isn't an overt attack. It's a response to the attack already made.

It's self defense.

But... doesn't that make it just an eye for an eye?

Nope!

Fascism is a set of ideas and ideals. It is held in the mind. You aren't born a fascist, just like you aren't born a Republican, or Democrat, or Christian, or a Muslim, or any number of ideologies people identify with. People can, and do change these aspects of themselves all the time.

A black person can't change their skin.
A fascist can change their mind.

But... how?

Punching. You ball up your fist, and you aim for spots on the fascist that cause pain.

This is as much metaphor as it is plain. This is the very definition of an anti-fascist action; Antifa. (as a side note: those who are anti-Antifa are admitting their fascism. Always good to correct that - try with words first, but... we'll get to it in a moment).

It could be as simple as tearing down fascist banners (use your keys, they put razor blades behind them in some cases), or refusing to shop in places friendly to fascists. Sometimes it means a protest, or calling the employers of a fascist and getting them fired. Sometimes, it means a street brawl.

Sometimes, it means a World War.

You avoid that last one by fighting here and now the individual fascists you find. You want to exert as much social pressure upon the fascist that they feel uncomfortable sharing their position, and enough hindrance to their daily existence that their routine and ability to function are severely compromised. This forces them to reconsider their actions and change their mind. Again, sometimes that's ending their ability to spread their lies and rhetoric there and now by knocking their teeth in. Your style is your own in this - but act.

Your life depends on it.

But the media said...

Yes they did. I am well aware that media sources from all over were giving "equal time" to fascists. This is not equality; remember, they want millions - billions, worldwide - dead. Platforming their views - increasing their visibility and acting as if there is equal validity to both a fascist and anti-fascist position - is misguided money grubbing at best (doing it for ratings), an overt fascist act at worst.

Remember, the fascist position is you need to be killed.

You do not platform, in any way, the death of another person based entirely on the made-up reasons of the person wanting to kill them. Doing so only aids in bolstering the position that some person needs to be killed.

In Germany, they have a saying, paraphrased:

If there’s a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis.

Meaning, you do not entertain those views. At minimum, you do not sit with that fascist.

So, what's the answer?

Should you punch a Nazi? Yes. Yes you should. You should punch a Nazi. You should not stop punching that Nazi until it is no longer a Nazi. That Nazi can change their mind at any time and the punching will stop. Or, they can hold their views and keep getting punched, and things will work themselves out in due course.
